“EmergencyEye® is an important component in our control center technology. In the event of unclear emergency calls, it provides us with location data and a direct view of the scene via the smartphone camera – so we know exactly what is happening and where we need to send the emergency services.”

[Harald Stürtz, district fire inspector of Lahn-Dill-Kreis]

The hazard prevention of Lahn-Dill-Kreis

The central control center and the crisis management team of Lahn-Dill-Kreis are essential authorities for security and crisis management. While the control center receives emergency calls and coordinates operations around the clock, the crisis management team takes over the strategic management of major emergencies.

The control center ensures that emergency services reach the scene quickly and protects human lives and infrastructure with modern communication technology. It coordinates the fire department, rescue services and police to ensure smooth emergency response. It also minimizes economic damage by preventing production downtime and business interruptions.

The crisis team meets in the event of disasters such as floods, pandemics or power outages. It analyzes the situation, plans evacuations, supplies the population with essential goods and protects companies from economic losses.

Working together, the control center and crisis management team ensure the protection of the population, the stability of the economy and the resilience of the region in times of crisis.

How emergency services use EmergencyEye®

Lahn-Dill-Kreis has been using the EmergencyEye® software since the end of 2019, making it the first district in Hesse to implement this technology. The application enables emergency services to access the caller’s smartphone camera during an emergency call and precisely determine their location. This makes it easier to assess the situation on site and supports the control center in providing targeted guidance to first responders.

No additional app installation is required to use EmergencyEye®. After contacting the emergency number 112, the control center sends an SMS with a link to the caller. This link establishes a direct connection between the caller’s smartphone and the control center, whereby the caller must actively confirm access to the camera and location. This procedure ensures that data protection is maintained.

By implementing EmergencyEye®, Lahn-Dill-Kreis is improving the efficiency and accuracy of emergency operations, which benefits both citizens and the emergency services.
